CYF SUMMER CAMP

June 24th - 29th

Grades: 9th - 12th

$500

Christian Youth Fellowship or CYF is a camp led by their peers, the Regional Youth Cabinet. This is a 5 day long camp to detach from the world and spend time in community, nature and one another.

CYF includes activities like square dance, talent show, surprise big event,  dance, and a team building low ropes activity.

This camp encourages the regional youth cabinet to lead the camp as well as worship and the schedule. Adults and counselors are there to support and help lead empowering conversations to help build faith and community.

My name is Tristan Jordan, and I am honored to be in my third year as an adult mentor with the Regional Youth Cabinet. This year, I have the privilege of returning to my previous role as RYC Moderator and CYF Director. As a camper turned director, I am passionate about returning each year to ensure that every camper has the opportunity to be their authentic self in a safe and affirming environment.

Some of my fondest memories at camp include the first supper, where everyone is meeting new people and trying new things; watching campers and counselors push past their comfort zones during the square dance; and hearing the unique perspectives shared as campers choose their "hills" to plant their flags--whether it's the debate over whether hot dogs are tacos, or the playful assertion that a baked potato isn't a meal. Whether hot or cold, all takes are welcome at camp!

One of my favorite parts of directing a Disciples of Christ camp is the opportunity to help youth engage with their faith in an encouraging environment. Each year, we welcome youth from various religions, all in different stages of their spirituality. To engage with anyone, especially youth, in discussions of their beliefs gives me such joy. Listening to and challenging their interpretations encourages critical thinking and causes them to challenge themselves in other facets of life as they mature in their faith and character.
